Dental Implant
Today, Dr. Zebovitz uses innovative technology to reconstruct and replace lost and broken teeth. Dentals implants are root replacements, which are surgically placed into the jawbone, and act as a foundation on which new teeth are placed. Titanium abutments are attached to the implants; then, the crown or tooth portion is custom fabricated by the skilled restorative dentists with whom Dr. Zebovitz partners. The goal is for the implants to create a natural look and function, while preserving facial structure and preventing bone deterioration.
The Surgical Procedure
Typically, dental implant surgery requires a two-step process:
-
Implants are placed within the jawbone beneath the gums, to gradually bond within 3 to 6 months. The patient wears a temporary replacement during this time and eats a soft diet. Dr. Zebovitz will work closely with a restorative dentist to ensure the best comfort and function during this healing phase.
-
Once the implant has healed securely to the jawbone, Dr. Zebovitz uncovers the implants and attaches tiny posts that act as anchors for the artificial tooth, fabricated by a restorative dentist. The process usually takes within 2-6 months, and is minimally invasive to the patient’s lifestyle.
